Hair Me Now!

Hair Me Now! Is a collection of 33 short stories about the relationships black women have with their hair that they experience daily. This collection of short stories gives insight and understanding that black hair is not just hair. As one black woman’s hair sets her apart on her lacrosse team, another black woman has a transformative experience at a beauty salon after thoroughly destroying her hair. A black girl in middle school becomes intensely anxious about swimming in front of her white peers. Another black girl gets called out for her hairstyle at work by her white boss.

Hair Me Now! Showcases the many ways black women’s hair is attached to their culture, history, and social, political, and economic environments.
